Q: When will my manuscript be published?
R: Submitting a manuscript does not mean being accepted for publication. You can access detailed information about the process at http://www.pegegog.net/index.php/pegegog/process. Evaluation process generally takes 3 to 6 months and publishing process is completed within 12 months at the latest.
Q: What languages does your journal accept?
R: Our journal publishes both Turkish and English versions of manuscripts together. Authors must therefore submit both Turkish and English texts of their manuscripts. Foreign researchers can make their first submission in English. They will be required to submit Turkish translation of their manuscripts after acceptance.
Q: I cannot receive notification from your journal. What is the problem?
R: An automatic notification is definitely sent to you when you make a submission. Notifications sent from our journal occasionally go into spam folder. Therefore, please regularly check your spam folder and move any Pegegog notifications to inbox.
Q: Occasionally, I have a notification message on the page but I can't see it and sometimes the page displays notifications in different languages. What is the problem?
R: Our journal uses OJS, open access-publishing platform, to peer review manuscript submissions. We conduct updates from time to time. Following these updates, system problems that are not encountered during update checks may occur. We would like to inform you that we will able to solve this kind of problems as soon as you let us know about them.
Q: I have asked about the status of my submission but I have received no answer. What is the status of my article?
R: We cannot answer such questions because they are frequently asked. The whole process can be followed on our website. Manuscripts are sent to reviewers as quickly as possible for their comments and recommendations. When a reviewer does not accept to review, a new reviewer is assigned as soon as possible.
Q: I have a "reviewer report delayed" notification about my submission. What does it mean?
R: You receive this notification when a reviewer fails to review your manuscript in time. In such cases, the reviewer is given additional time. The reviewer invitation is canceled if no response is received within one month and a new reviewer is assigned.
Q: How is the evaluation process in your journal?
R: Our journal follows the guidelines specified by COPE. Submissions made to Pegegog undergo a preliminary review by our editors. Manuscripts having obtained a positive evaluation by editors following the preliminary review are sent to reviewers.
Q: I made my submission. My manuscript has been rejected in the preliminary review. Why did I have this rejection?
R: Submissions are first checked for writing quality and style. Manuscripts having no style problems are submitted to originality detection software to identify text similarities which may indicate plagiarism. The most rejection decisions are made at this stage. Our journal accepts a similarity index of 15% (excluding bibliography). However, authors may interpret differently this 15%. What we mean by similarity index is direct quotation, similarities in method, definition, etc. In other words; a text taken directly from another author’s work must be given in quotation marks. Even a single sentence, when it is not given in quotation marks, is considered as plagiarism. Texts without quotation marks will still remain plagiarized even if words in these texts are replaced by their synonyms and citations are given. Even if the quoted work belongs to the author, direct quotation rules should be followed.
Submissions passing through this stage are checked for content. At this stage, abstract, method and analyses of the manuscript are quickly examined. If literature has many similar studies and if similar issues are previously and frequently raised in the journal, the submission is returned to the author. Manuscripts having method errors or using basic univariate statistical analyses (frequency/percentage etc.) are also returned to authors even though they have an original subject. For this reason, it will be helpful for authors to examine submission issues specified in the guide for authors.
Q: My manuscript was rejected by reviewers / editor but I am sure of my work. Do I have the right to object?
R: As journal management, we attach importance to objections. However, we want the instructions to be followed. You can consult the instructions at http://www.pegegog.net/index.php/pegegog/complaints.
Q: My manuscript was rejected by the editor even though reviewers made a revision decision about it. Can the editor reject a submission accepted by reviewers?
A: As we stated in our journal policies, the final decision belongs to the editor and editorial board. From time to time, even if our reviewers have a decision for revision, the editor can convey problems about a submitted paper in the information note (that the author cannot see). In such a case, if we, as editor/editorial board, decide that these problems cannot be solved, we return the manuscript. Otherwise, authors act with the idea that their papers will be published with minor revisions and the process is prolonged. Finally, when the rejection decision is forwarded to authors, the workload will increase and authors may lose time.
Q: My manuscript has been accepted. When will it be published?
A: The editing process starts quickly for accepted manuscripts. Online publication is completed between 1-3 months if any density in submissions or problems caused by authors in communication process do not cause delays.
Q: Does your journal charge publishing fees or any fees?
A: There is no charge for publishing in our journal. However, proofreading is requested from all accepted submissions. Authors can freely choose one of the proofreading firms mentioned in the guidelines and demand proofreading service for their manuscripts.
Q: I forgot to add one of the authors while I was submitting. What can I do?
A: As stated in the guidelines, no author name is added for submissions whose evaluation process started. When such a request comes in for a submission under review, the reviewing process is terminated and any resubmission of this manuscript will not be accepted.
Q: I have an article submission but I have not seen my submission recently. What is the problem?
A: If your submission has been refused, you have been notified by email and your manuscript has been sent to archives. Please check the Archives section and contact us immediately if you don’t find it there.
Q: I think manuscripts are published in different ways, not in the order of acceptance. What is your opinion on this matter?
A: Evaluation and publishing of all submissions are carried out pursuant to ethical rules. In terms of transparency, you can see the submission orders (ID) of manuscripts in the address bar starting from 2020 10 (2) issue. Large range in numbers of submission order may be due to excessive submissions and the high number of rejected articles in that period. Even though it is very rare, submissions having a prolonged process (caused by reviewers return, authors’ delay in revision, etc.) can be published with delay. Apart from this, the publication order is related to the completion of the operations depending on the submission date and the acceptance date. No unethical behavior is exhibited in any way.
Q: Is ethics committee approval requested during submission?
A: Having an ethics committee approval for the study is very important for the first evaluation. An ethical report will be requested for all submissions made after June 2020 or, if there is no need for ethical committee report in the study, a declaration stating this will be asked to be uploaded during submission.
Q: Can raw data be requested in any part of the process?

Q: Why do you want accounts like ORCID ID for submission?
A: As editors, we ask for ORCID ID in the first evaluation to see the expertise of the author on the subject and to assign reviewers in an effective way. This speeds up the submission process. We ask you to enter your ORCID ID and to keep your profile updated.
Q: I have received a review request from your journal. The subject of the submission is not my specialty, so why has the request been sent to me?
A: When making a reviewer assignment, first, information about members in our database is taken as reference. This may happen if your profile is blank or it has wrong keywords. In such cases, we ask you to update your profile on the journal page. If your profile is up to date but you still have this problem, please contact us to make necessary arrangements.
Q: I submitted a paper to your journal and, at the same time, I have received a reviewer request for another paper but I am not in a position to review it or I risk delaying the review process. Will this affect my submission?
A: This, of course, does not affect your submission. Volunteering is essential in reviewing. However, do not forget that you should empathize by thinking that your paper is/will be in review process and making an objective review will contribute to the world of science, especially to author candidates.
