Abstract

Background: The global rise in obesity has led to an increasing number of bariatric surgeries, with sleeve gastrectomy emerging as a leading procedure for significant weight loss and metabolic improvement. Postoperative pain management in these patients is especially challenging due to high rates of comorbidities—most notably obstructive sleep apnea and other respiratory disorders—which increase the risk of perioperative respiratory complications. Traditionally, opioids have been the cornerstone of analgesia in surgical patients.
