Abstract

Background: Sepsis-associated acute kidney injury (SA-AKI) is one of the most frequent and devastating complicationsof sepsis, contributing substantially to intensive care unit admissions, prolonged hospitalization, chronic kidney disease,and mortality. Early diagnosis remains challenging because conventional indicators, including serum creatinine and urineoutput, often reflect renal dysfunction only after significant kidney injury has already occurred. This diagnostic delaylimits opportunities for timely intervention and highlights the need for more sensitive and specific biomarkers capable of identifying kidney injury at an earlier stage
